INTENT

My name is Ron Matt. I live in Paradise, CA. I am looking for either freelance and/or contract design work that I can do from my homebased studio. I own a home in Truckee and would consider full time employment and relocating to the Reno NV. or Tahoe area, if the occasion to would arise. My family is in Truckee.
I have both PC and Mac OSX machines and both platforms have Adobe Greative Suite 4 installed.
The PC has Quark 7 and Acrobat Pro 9 with Pitstop 7.5
I would prefer to work on a 'fixed rate' (per ad, per page) basis, rather than an hourly rate. Files transfered via FTP.
I prefer to work with a limited number of accounts that will supply a stable workflow. I am employeed as a pre-press supervisor in a full time capacity and will continue to do so until an opportunity for full time employment opens in the Reno area.
I have samples of my work on disk and will be happy to provide them to serious queries. I am also working on placing them on a related blog site.

DESIGN

I have been in the graphics industry for 35 years as a designer, illustrator and pre-press technician. Having an understanding of pre-press requirements has aided me in knowing precisely what is required for pdf workflows.
My files are without error. Attention is paid consistantly to the issues of bleed, image safety, resolution, overprints and knockouts, d-max and press gain and , optimised color placement and embedded text and images. All pdf's submitted are pre-flighted with Pitstop 7 and are guaranteed to pass 'error free'.
My experience in pre-press has made me keenly aware of the importance of schedules
My experience with presses has given me the insight as to what to expect and how to attain it.
As a designer, I bring the advantage of being able to communicate with both pre-press and the press in an experienced and knowledgeable, professional manner.
I am a good conceptualist and have a firm grasp of color theory. My designs are innovative and appropriate and range from the 'trendy' to 'corporate'.
